Rodadero beach

If you want to visit the busiest, noisiest and sportiest beach on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, well, go straight to Rodadero beach! There are always a lot of tourists and locals, so you won’t be bored. Guests are offered entertainment, restaurants and places to relax for every taste: in the vicinity of the beach there is a well-presented range of hotels of various levels and other tourist services.

Beach description

This beach is designed for active and dynamic vacation. If you want something calmer, take a look at the nearby Playa Blanca beach. However, for those who want to enjoy the atmosphere of unrestrained fun and get a rush of adrenaline from water sports, we still recommend staying at Rodadero beach.

It has begun to be popular since the 1950s. This paradise with warm white sand and calm turquoise ocean water in Santa Marta is considered the most visited on the northern coast of Colombia. It will be comfortable to relax here for various categories of tourists: lovers of water sports, families with children and even those who can't swim well or can't do it at all.

A gentle even bottom underwater allows you to take unhurried barefoot walks along the coast and enjoy the Colombian romance of the surroundings. By the way, it attracts couples in love to spend their honeymoon here enjoying the Caribbean sunset under the arch of palm branches with the taste of the local Aguardiente liqueur.

Young and hot singles will also have something to do here. Around the beach there are many clubs and other places of entertainment where you can not only dance to world hits and drink a real strong rum but also make an acquaintance.

When is it better to go?

The best time to visit Colombia is from December to April, when the weather is relatively warm and the rains are replaced by the dry season.  It should be borne in mind that the coast is always hotter than in the highlands, for example, in the capital Bogota.

Useful information

  1. Since you are in Latin America, do not miss the opportunity to try exotic fruit (mango, avocado, papaya, guava, guanabana), which cost not a lot, and culinary delights of the national Creole cuisine. The latter include cazuela, ceviche, bandeja.
  2. Walking the streets of Colombia's oldest city will also leave an indelible impression. Break away at least briefly from the gentle waves of the Caribbean and make a rendezvous on the old part of Santa Marta. In addition to colorful houses with nice balconies, cozy restaurants, old signs, there are a lot of interesting graffiti and small parks.
  3. Santa Marta Cathedral was historically the first in South America.   It keeps an urn with the heart of America’s liberator Simon Bolivar, whose life is firmly intertwined with the city. Entrance to the cathedral is free.
