Johnny Cay beach

Johnny Cay beach is located on a small island in the Caribbean, which is also called the Sugar Island due to the white sand beaches. It is located just 15 minutes by boat from the large island of San Andres. Johnny Cay Beach is a tropical paradise. The island on which it is located is famous for its coral bottom and bright fish, so many people choose this beach for snorkeling.

Beach description

The color scheme of the sea in this part of the Caribbean is amazing. The water plays with colors from saturated blue to transparent aquamarine. In total, the Sugar Island extends over 45 thousand square meters. 15 thousand of them consist of tall shady coconut palms, and 10 thousand are covered with white and soft sandy beaches. A walk around the island will take about thirty minutes. Its territory is so small. The main form of relaxation on the beach is picnics. Johnny Cay beach is popular with young people, locals and tourists.

Transfer to the Sugar Island is carried out during the day (night trips are not allowed). And the entrance to the beach is paid, since its territory is a park area. Although the island is small, there are several restaurants on the beach that mainly serve seafood.

When is it better to go?

The best time to visit Colombia is from December to April, when the weather is relatively warm and the rains are replaced by the dry season.  It should be borne in mind that the coast is always hotter than in the highlands, for example, in the capital Bogota.
