Beypore beach

The beach in Beypor – the famous port city of Kerala – is considered one of the most beautiful places in the state. Beypor is located at the mouth of the Chaliyar River, 11 km from Kozhikode. You can get to Beypor by regular bus, taxi, rickshaw or rented car.

Beach description

A small sandy beach is located on a coast overgrown with coconut palm trees, on both sides limited by piles of stones. The entrance to the water is gentle, the bottom is sandy-rocky, but swimming is dangerous due to high waves and undercurrents. On the territory there are paid sunbeds and umbrellas, rental boats and equipment for surfing, water skiing, parasailing. The beach is not crowded. It is especially comfortable for lovers of privacy and active entertainment. You can take children with you. Nearby there are cafes, restaurants and interesting sights, including the picturesque freshwater lake Pukot, in the waters of which it is pleasant to ride a boat. It is also worth visiting the local freshwater aquarium with a rich collection of river fauna and flora.

Of particular note is the temple of Vishnu, erected in 3101 BC. e., where is the statue of the god Vishnu lying on the thousand-headed snake Sheshe. Excursions to the temple are prohibited, but you can admire the colorful procession of monks around the temple.

Not far from Beipur is the Kadalundi Nagaram Conservation Area, where hundreds of species of endemic and migratory birds live. In the water area of the city you can see sea lions and dolphins.

In the vicinity of Beypor there is also the Periyar National Park with an area of about 775 m², on the territory of which there are wild elephants, civet, bison, leopards, huge representatives of the deer genus sambara and sika deer, tigers, leopards, wild dogs, many species of birds and amphibians.
