Nopparat Tara beach

Nestled in the picturesque bay of Had Nopparat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, Nopparat Tara Beach lies in close proximity to the vibrant Ao Nang Beach. Accessing this tranquil oasis is a breeze; visitors can opt for a taxi, tuk-tuk, or even a rented car from Ao Nang. Conveniently, multiple parking areas are available nearby, ensuring a hassle-free visit to this serene destination.

Beach description

Stretching along the waterfront, the narrow sandy coastline of Nopparat Tara Beach extends for approximately 3 km, nestled beneath the luxurious tropical canopy of casuarina and palm trees. The beach boasts fine, light sand, and the entry into the water is gentle and extended. While the bottom is predominantly sandy, visitors should be cautious of occasional sharp shells. The tranquil sea invites relaxation, and during low tide, several small islands become accessible by foot. Along the concreted promenade, benches and picnic tables offer spots for leisure. At the beach's more secluded end, a river meets the sea. A nearby pier provides the opportunity to rent a boat and explore neighboring islands. Amenities such as a small market, taxi, and tuk-tuk parking are available, with convenient access to Ao Nang and other Krabi destinations.

Despite its popularity, Nopparat Tara Beach rarely feels overcrowded thanks to its vast length. Weekends, however, do see an influx of both tourists and locals. In the absence of sunbeds and umbrellas, visitors can relax on a towel in the cool shade of trees or bring their own umbrella for comfort. The beach is family-friendly, welcoming children to its shores. Adjacent to the beach, the construction of restaurants, cafes, and hotels is prohibited within the national park boundaries. Nevertheless, a highway just behind the waterfront is lined with several cafes and shops, including a 7-Eleven. To enjoy the natural shade provided by the trees, it is advisable to visit the beach in the morning, as the afternoon sun leaves the shore exposed.

Optimal Visiting Times

The best time to visit Krabi for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. This period offers the ideal conditions for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying the various outdoor activities that Krabi has to offer.

  • November to February: This is the peak tourist season in Krabi due to the perfect weather conditions – warm days, clear skies, and minimal rainfall. It's the best time for those looking to enjoy the beaches and outdoor activities without the interruption of rain.
  • March to April: These months are still within the dry season, but temperatures start to rise, making it hotter. This is a great time for those who prefer warmer weather and less crowded beaches, as the peak tourist season starts to wind down.

While the dry season is the most popular time to visit, it's also worth considering the shoulder months like May and October. During these months, there are fewer tourists, and hotel rates can be more affordable, though there's a higher chance of rain.
