Grande Anse des Salines beach

Grande Anse des Salines is bear the town of Saine-Anne on the Le Salines Peninsula. Beautiful climate, snow-white sand attracts many tourists here. The underwater world by the beach is widely known for its riches, so fans of active vacation will always find something to do here.

Beach description

Salines,according to many, is the best beach in the southeast of the island. The area is rather long. Motorists can drive about 1/3 of its depth. The majority of vacationers are immediately located close to their car. Therefore, if you go a little further, you can settle in a completely free space, in remote places you can even notice groups of nudists.

The beach is conditionally divided into three sections, with the central part near the Big Salt Bay and two other less-known sections to the east and west. The coastal strip with luxurious palm trees is replaced by low undergrowth and bushes, in the shade of which there are picnic tables. This small forest plantation at the same time protects the piece and quiet of the beach people from the roadway behind it. The walls of the hotels do not hang over a secluded natural area.

The water is turquoise and completely clear, its purity is not spoilt even the occasional rains. Algae accumulations are visible in some places.

Tourists like:

  • Availability of a large number of parking spaces. There are a lot of cars piling up at the weekend, though.
  • The sand is absolutely clean, there are no stones either near the shore or at the entrance to the water, the entrance is gentle, convenient for children and the elderly.
  • Closer to shore, the water is completely calm.
  • Sun loungers and beer are offered at an affordable price. There are toilets, showers, and containers, which are placed along the shore.
  • Traders offer swimsuits and pareos, the ice cream saleswoman attracts attention with a bell.
  • You can have a snack at the nearest cafes, which are about a dozen, or take a grilled chicken with you on the way.
  • Contingent of vacationers is quiet people, and people do not interfere with each other. It is clean and in a dignified manner.

You should be afraid of coconuts coming over your head. Due to such surprises, even fatalities are recorded on the island.

When is the best time to go?

It is best to go to Martinique in the dry season from December to May, when  the rains do not bother you, and the thermometer does not drop below 22 degrees. However, it should be remembered that in late December - early January, many tourists arrive on the island, which  affects prices.

The flow of tourists in Martinique does not run out either in summer or winter. There are many comfortable hotels, bars, cafes. The tourist structure near the salt lake of Le Salines fully meets the demands of the public. There are hotels of all price categories, from 5* apartments to small family hotels, boutique hotels, hostels. Many have an all-inclusive system, most are equipped with swimming pools and golf courses, and have spa centers.

To visit the beach, you will need a car, because there is no accommodation directly beside it. The closest hotel to a cozy place to stay is Karibea Valmeniere Hotel, 3*, with all the amenities for a tourist. There are facilities for disabled people, laundry, swimming pool. Guests enjoy free parking, fresh, tasty breakfast, conference and banquet rooms. The staff is very attentive, speaks English.

Local cuisine has largely absorbed French traditions, although based on local products. The menu always includes seafood, rice, exotic fruits that are widely available. Tourists like crabs and claims, flying fish fillet served in garlic sauce, popular river crayfish, dishes made of pig, goat, lamb meat. You can taste snails or frog legs.

Useful information

  1. The average temperature in any season is not below 18°C. The most comfortable months are spring and after November, when the rainy season ends, although there will still be no drought.
  2. Public transport stops working on weekdays at 6 p.m. On Saturday, working hours are shortened to 13:00, on Sunday the most convenient way to get from the airport to the hotel is by taxi, which is not cheap here. Popular among tourists service - car rental.
