Anaklia beach

It is located on the west coast of Georgia near the border with Abkhazia. This is the youngest resort in the country, its construction began in 2010. President Saakashvili’s ambitious plans were brought to life by the invited Spanish architect Alberto Domingo, thanks to whom the modern embankment, Europe’s longest pedestrian bridge over the Inguri River, the best water park in Georgia and pathos in Georgia appeared in Anaklia. This resort is considered one of the most environmentally friendly on the Black Sea coast of Georgia since there are no industrial enterprises, ports, major cities and highways around it. Moreover, there is a dry and mild climate, unlike in the rainy Batumi, Sarpi and Kobuleti.

Beach description

The five-kilometer coastline is covered with golden sand and stretches along the village of Anaklia to the Inguri River, which separates it from the village of Ganmukhuri. n order to combine these two resorts, it was decided to build a 540 meter long footbridge, which became the main sight of these places.

Ganmukhuri also has its own beach, but, unlike Anaklia, it is shingly, not so long and does not have a high attendant service. Next to it the main entertainment establishments of the resort are concentrated - night clubs, casinos and a music venue, where large-scale music festivals are held. The largest water amusement park in Georgia is also located here.

Anaklia beach is a classic rest area, equipped with all necessary infrastructure. Here it is possible to rent umbrellas and loungers, use showers and changing rooms, have a snack at the coastal cafes.

The sea in the area of the beach is warm and pure, rather shallow. Depth increases gradually, the bottom is somewhat silty and safe. Water transparency largely depends on the current and full flow of the Inguri River, which flows into the sea in the neighborhood of the beach.

On the coast it is possible to go in for water sport, ride a banana, a jet ski or a donut tube, and also rent a catamaran, kayak or segway. Near the beach there is a children's play area, tennis court, volleyball and basketball pitchs, a field for indoor soccer.

When is the best time to go?

In summer, Georgia has very hot weather, which sometimes interferes with enjoying  beach vacations and excursions. Therefore, the best time to visit the Black Sea resorts falls on May, June and September.

Infrastructure

To get to Anaklia, you must first get to Zugdidi. From there, the resort is only thirty kilometers away, which can be easily overcome by regular bus, minibus or taxi.

Accommodation in Anaklia is represented by several modern hotels, among which there are five- and four-star hotels, and a rather limited private sector. It is worth noting that the prices in the local hotels are much cheaper than, for example, in Batumi, due to the remoteness of the resort and its novelty. However, the service is at the highest level, which meets the generally recognized European standards.

One of the most attractive variants in the category of "price-quality" is Hotel Cruise. It is located fifty meters from the beach. There are comfortable rooms with a private bathroom and a balcony, satellite TV and fast free Internet. There is a rooftop terrace with great views of the sea and surroundings.
