Green Cape beach
Green Cape is a beach area located next to the famous Batumi Botanical Garden, just 9 km from Batumi. The beach owes its name to the resort village of Mtsvane Kontskhi (translated from Georgian - Green Cape), which is a part of the territory of the village. Green Cape is one of the most picturesque beaches of Adjara, it is very popular among Batumi residents and tourists who want to enjoy the privacy and beautiful Georgian nature.

Beach description
Cape Verde beach begins near the entry to the Botanical Garden and stretches for a narrow strip of approximately 500 m. Surrounded by mountains, abundantly overgrown with southern greenery, it is a cozy, secluded place with a mostly shingly coating and an emerald green sea with the same rocky bottom. Near the beach there is a pier, and in the sea - the remains of an old breakwater. The entry to the sea is sloping, but not very comfortable due to large shingle, so it is better to enter and leave the sea in rubber shoes. Along the beach, wooden flooring is laid, on which it is convenient to walk along the coastline. The beach is not crowded, its main visitors:
- specially arrived families with children;
- tourists, who run away from the city bustle;
- locals;
- guests of the botanical garden, who decide to freshen up after a walk.
In the northern part of the beach there is an old metal bridge, running along the coastal cliffs. It leads to the wild part of the beach, which has not any infrastructure and is a small rocky patch with a sloping entry into the sea and natural shade, magnificent views of the botanical garden. It is better to get to this area of the beach not by an emergency bridge, but by fording, going the round of the rocks along the water. For this, tourists will be rewarded with the opportunity to see beautiful grottoes. In the southern part, the beach area of Cape Verde passes to the neighboring site - Makhinjauri Beach.
It is possible to get to the beach at Cape Verde by arriving in the resort village from Batumi:
- by bus;
- by a minibus;
- by taxi;
- by car.
The road will not take more than 15-20 minutes.
When is the best time to go?
In summer, Georgia has very hot weather, which sometimes interferes with enjoying beach vacations and excursions. Therefore, the best time to visit the Black Sea resorts falls on May, June and September.

Infrastructure
Despite the popularity and proximity to the botanical garden, this beach has an underdeveloped infrastructure. In its territory and nearby, in the high season, there are only a few cafes with traditional Georgian cuisine, a small shop with souvenirs, cabins for changing clothes and a rental service of beach equipment, mainly parasols and sunbeds, that is operating on the beach. When choosing out from beach activities, visitors can enjoy sunbathing, sea bathing, diving behind mussels, swimming on a mattress, and with special equipment, even snorkeling and sea fishing. In the evening, walking along the beach or having a picnic on the beach, you can enjoy the beautiful sea sunsets.
Among modern tourist infrastructure facilities, there are several guest houses and small hotels located right on the coast and next to it. For instance, Green Cape Holiday Home, is located in 15 min. walk from the beach and offers comfortable apartments at the level of a 3-star hotel.

Rest on the Cape Verde has its own characteristics. In addition to the botanical garden and the beach, the village has nowhere else to go. Even for groceries you need to go to the neighboring Makhinjauri or directly to Batumi. The same applies to evening entertainment - they can only be found in the city. Therefore, for those who would like to combine urban entertainment with a beach holiday in an ecologically clean place, it makes sense to settle in Batumi and travel to Cape Verde daily.
