Trou d'Eau Douce beach

Trou d'Eau Douce is a crowded beach in the east of Mauritius, located in the village of the same name, an hour's drive from the airport.

Beach description

The length of the beach is several kilometers, fine golden sand is on the coast and bottom. The slope is flat, the water deepens slowly, the ocean warms up well, so the conditions are great for families with children. High waves do not rise, the wind is moderate. Tourists stay at hotels on the beach or in the village.

On the beach, people sunbathe, swim, play outdoor games and just relax from everyday work. Trou d'Eau Douce means “Freshwater Well”, fishermen live here, tourist infrastructure is developing. The resort ships, launches, boats depart from the coast of to Ile aux Cerfs. You can get to Trou d'Eau Douce by bus or taxi. The village has a variety of restaurants for vacationers and locals, where you can enjoy authentic and modern Creole cuisine. You can buy all you need at retail and souvenir shops. A local attraction is an old church with unusual blue windows.

When is it better to go

Mauritius – is an island of volcanic origin, on the territory of which a humid tropical climate reigns. The best time for tourism  – is the Mauritian summer, which continues from September to March. During this period, the air warms up to +31 degrees, at night – up to +23 degrees. In the central part of the island, the air temperature is a couple of degrees lower than off the coast of the ocean. It rains all year, more precipitation falls from December to April.
