Roccapina beach

Roccapina Beach is a beach in a very picturesque location in southwest of Corsica. It's located in the area of the protected nature reserve. On the sides of the beach – rocky hills, on one of which today you can see an ancient Genoese watchtower. The second is a sculpture molded by nature, known to everyone as the Lion of Roccapina. There are barely noticeable hiking trails for beginners and experienced climbers.

Beach description

Despite the bad access roads and the remoteness of the beach from the benefits of civilization, it's quite popular among families with children, as the shore is almost flat, naturally clean, the water is shallow, and the sun warms the area in summer quite well.

There's no beach equipment, no service at all. The nearest diner is at the territory of a camping site, situated at some distance from the beach. So when you go on vacation here, you have to provide for everything: take water, something to eat, hats, panamas and umbrellas from the sun, because there's nowhere to hide from the merciless Corsican sunrays in the height of summer.

Only hikers or desperate auto enthusiasts can get close to the beach. The last 2.5 km of dirt road near the access way weave between the bumps, a car with low suspension won't be able to even pass. Sometimes the final kilometers become just a mud pool. However, it's quite crowded during the peak season, the parking lot is packed, because no one charges for it.

Main features of Rocсappina Beach:

  • 400 m of cleanest sand;
  • a picturesque bay with azure water and ships moored at the roads;
  • there're no beach activities, you can do any of the sports on your own;
  • the vicinity gives an opportunity to develop spiritually and intellectually (by visiting the defensive tower on the rock, hiking to hard-to-reach places on the Lion Ridge, getting to know the nature of the surrounding rocks).
