Pointe Rouge beach

Pointe Rouge is the largest beach in eastern Marseille. There is no palm tree so you can hide in the shade, but there is a wide range of bars where you can enjoy a mojito while dipping your feet right in the sea. The local flavour is complemented by old fishing huts, which now belong to private owners, but continue to create a picturesque background for photos.

Beach description

This is a very spacious and wide beach, which in area is even more than Catalan. However, due to its popularity in summer, it is almost always overloaded, despite its size.

But no matter how many vacationers arrive, it seems that Pointe Rouge will accommodate everyone. At least here is a place even for the construction of sand castles, which are so fond of building small children, which are sometimes even more than adults. The bottom is nice - flat and smooth, not deep.

This is a sandy beach with beautiful views of the harbour and the Friul Archipelago. There is a small area of shallow rocky shore - the water on it is a little dirtier if compared to sandy. Winds are quite rare here, but if they blow - then a few days, accompanied by decent waves. Such moments "catch" surfers and go out to enjoy the rare waves off the coast of Marseille.

When is the best time to go?

It is possible to relax in France at any time of the year, the time of the trip depends more on your preferences. Summer - a great time to travel to the sea. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, even on the southern French Riviera is not hot weather. In winter , people go to ski resorts in France. It should be be mindful that in summer and winter in France there is a high season, respectively, prices soar. To enjoy the excursions, choose the time from February to April or from September to November, when both in the north and in the south it is not very crowded.
