Catalans beach

Beach with a convenient location, which is close to the centre of Marseille. From here you can walk to it with a fresh coffee croissant at the bakery along the way to start your day with breakfast on the Côte d'Azur. To be honest, this is not the cleanest and far from the most beautiful beach in Marseille, but it is the closest section for those who want to swim without leaving the city or using transport.

Beach description

This is a cosy little beach near the city centre with fine sand and shallow sea. It's close to the old port. Swimming here is very pleasant - no need for special shoes, as there are no rocks and sharp cliffs underwater. As such, there are no waves, rather this light natural excitement of the sea surface - no more. A light breeze adds freshness and romance to this place, especially in the evenings.

On this beach there is a very beautiful place on the stones with a comfortable anatomic shape, on which you can comfortably lie even without loungers and take beautiful pictures. Boulders are also found in the sand, but they do not impede movement, but look quite natural and harmonious.

Beach is crowded - after 6 pm a lot of locals come here, so you can't push through the water. However, those who rest with children are not afraid, because, firstly, it is very convenient to enter the water, and secondly, it is convenient to get to the beach.

When is the best time to go?

It is possible to relax in France at any time of the year, the time of the trip depends more on your preferences. Summer - a great time to travel to the sea. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, even on the southern French Riviera is not hot weather. In winter , people go to ski resorts in France. It should be be mindful that in summer and winter in France there is a high season, respectively, prices soar. To enjoy the excursions, choose the time from February to April or from September to November, when both in the north and in the south it is not very crowded. If you go to the French Riviera in September, you will never lose: You will find a time when the weather is still warm and the prices are not so high.
