Gialos Beach is situated close to the main port of Ios. From this beach, you can enjoy the view of luxury yachts, tour liners, and colorful fishermens boats. It belongs to top 3 most popular locations of the island due to the following advantages:
- snow white sand without garbage, sharp stones, or sea urchins. Here, you can easily walk in bare feet;
- many trees providing clean air and coolness. In their shadow, people have picnics and and seek shelter from afternoon heat;
- monuments of Greek (Cycladic) architecture gathered on peripheral beach areas;
- large size - more than 500 m in length and up to 45 m in width;
- Free places can be found here even in the high season.
The territory of Yalos is regularly cleaned. Its flawless cleanliness was singled out with several Blue Flag awards. The beach combines bright blue sea, san plains, and green hills. There's a beautiful view from the beach to the Aegean Sea islands and endless sea waters.
Light breeze, small waves, warm water, and cloudless sky are typical for Yalos. There are no underwater current, sea urchins, or other threats here. This place is suitable for families with kids and people who cannot swim. Youth, gastro tourists, active travelers and regional ethnographers also come here.
The most part of beach guests are tourists from Australia, Western Europe, and North America. It has been recently visited by people from Asia, Russia, and Balkan Peninsula. The versatile population of Yalos have only one thing in common - people are law-abiding. The number of crimes here is extremely low.
Sea tours, taste-offs of Greek dishes, bar parties and hiking are organized for beach guests. They are taken for water ski, engaged in parachuting, trained to control scooters and motor boats. It also has good conditions for learning surfing, diving, and snorkeling.

Yalos is located close to the mooring site for passenger liners. Crowds come here for the peak of tourist season (May-July)The beach is free and open 24/7. But in order to occupy a deck chair by water and to enjoy sunbathing in comfortable conditions, you need to order a cocktail in one of local bars. You also can rent a sling chair for 5-10 Euros.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Gialos Beach is 300 meters from the main port of Ios. It can be reached by bus on the route of Port-Town-Mylopotas. An alternative is to order a taxi, arrive by sea or walk.
1.5 km east of the beach is one of the most beautiful Greek churches - the temple of Panagia Gremniotissa. This is a 200-year-old building erected on top of a local cliff. It is notable for its great height, original architectural design, excellent condition. Its territory rises above the city and serves as an observation platform.
The port near Gialos performs not only a logistic, but also a transport function. There you can buy a ticket to the other end of the island or book a boat trip.
