Beach description
Kumbara is the sand and pebble beach located 3 km north westward from the main port of Ios. It has the following features:
- small size - 300 m in length and up to 40 m in width;
- calm atmosphere - there are no tourist crowds, annoying traders, or noisy parties here;
- safety- Kumbara is situated in a rocky bay protecting tourists from high waves and storms. Smooth depth increase and the absence of underwater currents are typical for it;
- perfect ecology - this place is famous for its clean air, transparent water, and almost complete absence of garbage. It has been repeatedly granted the Blue Flag status.
The beach is surrounded with snow white rocks, rampant trees, and gentle hills. There's a beautiful view from its beach to the neighboring island, monumental rocks, and endless sea.
Kumbara is popular among people who value calm recreation. It has wonderful conditions for swimming, sunbathing, hiking and mountain trip organization. In the near vicinity of the beach, there area cliffs attracting divers and snorkelers.
The basic beach population is represented by foreign tourists with children and young people. Almost 70% of tourists come here from Australia, Western Europe, and North America.
Interesting fact:
previously, Kumbara was a wild beach attracting nudists from the entire Europe. But in the 80ies - 90ies, hotels were built on it. And so, more conservative people started coming here for vacations.When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure
A 4-star hotel Agalia Luxury Suites is located 500 meters east of the beach. This is a small but very beautiful complex with children's and adult pools, a jacuzzi, a restaurant and a snack bar. Its buildings were constructed from natural stone quarried in the bowels of Hellas. Each hotel room has a unique design (from the tropics to granite marble), air conditioning, refrigerators, and minibars. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the Aegean Sea.
Besides the toilets, changing cabins and sun loungers, there are the following infrastructure facilities in the vicinity of the beach:
- seafood and continental restaurants;
- pool club and lounge bar (on a hill above Kumbara);

Koumbara is a 30-minute walk from Ormos Port. You can get here by car using the road to the left of the port (via the back of Gialos beach). Also, buses from the capital of the island run to this place.
500 meter west of the beach is a small but very beautiful church with terraces, observation platforms and a garden. It is open to visitors 7 days a week.
