Pachia Ammos beach
Pachia Ammos is the sandy beach of Samotraki. Its Greek name, which means "a thick layer of sand", perfectly emphasizes this feature of the coast, so attractive for relaxation. The beach is located on the southern outskirts of Samotraki, 15 km from the port of Kamariotissa and is the only one on the island, which can be reached both by boat and by land.

Pahia Ammos is quite long and the most popular Samotraki beach because of the sandy coast and the sea bottom. High cliffs and majestic boulders, surrounding the coastline, give it special picturesqueness. There are almost no storms here, but strong waves sometimes form. Slope into the sea is sloping, therefore, it is possible to rest here with children in the absence of large waves.
The infrastructure on the beach is well developed, so it is possible to come here anyone, who is aiming to rest with maximum comfort. Umbrellas and loungers, showers and changing rooms are available on the coastline, there are several cozy taverns and beach bars. Despite the attractiveness of Pahia Ammos, there are almost no crowds on its coast, so it is possible to come here for those, who dream of solitude from noisy beach crowds.
A peculiar significant “visiting card” of Pachia Ammos is a snow-white church, that proudly rises above the coastline on a cliff top. On this beach it is also possible to rent a boat and go on a trip to the most remote corners of the island.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
