Beach description
Calm and clear emerald waters make it perfect for swimming. The beach is covered with light gray volcanic sand, extending to the sea bottom. The descent is smooth, and the waters are shallow; however, seaweed may be encountered at the bottom. The water is typically warm, peaking at a comfortable 22 degrees Celsius.
Nearby, Lake Nahuel Huapi and the Correntoso River offer additional natural attractions. Correntoso is renowned for the trout that inhabit the river mouth; however, fishing is prohibited in this area. Anglers are welcome to fish at the river's headwaters or in the lakes Correntoso and Nahuel Huapi.
Correntoso Lake Beach is usually serene and uncrowded, with free entry. It is an idyllic spot where families with children, active tourists, and ecotourists often visit. The beach boasts a variety of water sports, including canoeing, windsurfing, kayaking, and boat riding - subject to speed limits. Additionally, a designated camping area is nestled among the coniferous trees at the beach.
When is the best time to go?
Argentina, with its extensive coastline, offers a delightful beach vacation experience. The best time to visit for a beach holiday is during the Argentinian summer, which spans from December to February. During these months, the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for enjoying the sandy shores and crystal-clear waters.
- December: The beginning of the summer season is ideal for those looking to partake in the vibrant festivities and enjoy the opening of the beach resorts.
- January: This is the peak of the summer, with the warmest temperatures. It's the most popular time for tourists, so expect crowded beaches and a lively atmosphere.
- February: The end of the summer still offers excellent beach weather, with the added benefit of fewer crowds as the holiday season winds down.
Regardless of the month you choose, Argentina's beaches, such as those in Mar del Plata or Pinamar, provide a beautiful setting for relaxation and fun in the sun. Just remember to book accommodations in advance, especially if you're planning to visit during the peak season in January.
