Pinamar beach

Pinamar, a quaint resort town nestled on the Atlantic coast, beckons a vast influx of tourists from the nation's capital during the balmy season. Situated approximately three hundred kilometers from Buenos Aires and a mere hundred kilometers north of the renowned Mar del Plata resort, it offers an idyllic escape for those seeking sun, sand, and serenity.

Beach description

Stretching along the coastline, this expansive stretch of sand forms a magnificent promenade. The beach extends approximately 80 km, starting in the north, well beyond the town, and culminating around 40 km to the south. Nestled between the town and another coastal settlement, Villa Gesell, lies a quaint desert expanse - about 3 km in length and 1.5 km in width. This arid landscape is crisscrossed by numerous dry channels that become the temporary abode of rainwater during the wet season.

The sand, a uniform dirty white interspersed with various shades of gray, blankets the entire beach. Frequent visitors to this shore are the tide waves and the robust surf of the ocean, which relentlessly sculpt the sand. As a result, the sand is coarse and grainy, the kind that insists on accompanying you, hidden in your shoes and clothing, as you make your way back to your accommodation.

Distinct sections of Pinamar have been christened with their own unique monikers, such as Rada Beach to the north of the town. However, these areas share a similar natural beauty and are uniformly maintained in cleanliness. The more secluded public beaches, distant from hotels and cafes, are meticulously cleaned, and garbage bins are strategically placed at frequent intervals.

The sea adjacent to the beach is vast, with the Atlantic Ocean's presence felt immediately. Yet, the waters here are shallow, offering a safe haven for swimming with children even a mere 10 meters from the shore. The truly deep waters, along with their accompanying underwater currents, only make their presence known about 100 meters from the shoreline.

When is the Best Time to Visit?

Argentina, with its extensive coastline, offers a delightful beach vacation experience. The best time to visit for a beach holiday is during the Argentinian summer, which spans from December to February. During these months, the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for enjoying the sandy shores and crystal-clear waters.

  • December: The beginning of the summer season is ideal for those looking to partake in the vibrant festivities and enjoy the opening of the beach resorts.
  • January: This is the peak of the summer, with the warmest temperatures. It's the most popular time for tourists, so expect crowded beaches and a lively atmosphere.
  • February: The end of the summer still offers excellent beach weather, with the added benefit of fewer crowds as the holiday season winds down.

Regardless of the month you choose, Argentina's beaches, such as those in Mar del Plata or Pinamar, provide a beautiful setting for relaxation and fun in the sun. Just remember to book accommodations in advance, especially if you're planning to visit during the peak season in January.

Infrastructure

Pinamar, a charming resort town, is known for its scarcity of high-rise buildings and structures. The town is segmented into various neighborhoods, each brimming with lush greenery and small, tidy houses. Many of these dwellings serve as family hotels or standalone guest houses, catering to the needs of a cozy group of tourists, often no more than eighteen.

Unlike typical coastal cities, Pinamar's urban landscape seamlessly merges with the beach. The absence of a bustling waterfront promenade is notable, as is the lack of the traditional "lines from the sea" that usually denote prestige and cost of living. Despite this, the town boasts a generous selection of hotels, cafes, and restaurants, which are dispersed almost evenly along the entire stretch of the beach. For those interested in leisure sports, there are even two golf courses available.

The majority of large hotels are centrally located along Jorge Bunge Avenue, from which streets radiate outwards in a radial pattern. Generally, the cost of accommodation increases progressively as one nears the sea, offering options for every budget.

Useful information

The city has virtually no marine entertainment. There is no pier in the city, and there are practically no possible accumulations of motor boats. The resort primarily offers beach and sea vacations with long walks along the beautiful numerous streets and along the beach itself.

There are benches and sun loungers for relaxation in large numbers in different places right on the largest beach. They may belong to a nearby family household. They receive a small income from this. In any case, Pinamar is one of those resorts where really everyone lacks such places on the sand.
