Puerto Cayo beach

Puerto Cayo is a famous beach in Manabi province in southwestern Ecuador. Resort is located on the territory of the eponymous small fishing village.

Beach description

Beach and bottom are covered with fine white sand, water in ocean is blue, clean, transparent. On the beach, wind is constantly blowing and waves are rising. Due natural features of the resort in Puerto Cayo daily come surfers to catch a wave and athletes who prefer different watersports. Lovers of diving and snorkeling often visit the uninhabited island of Pedernales with white corals, located opposite Puerto Cayo. Along the perimeter of the beach grow perennial tropical forests, many walking, trekking trails, leading tourists to local waterfalls. There is an observation deck, from which tourists watch the games of humpback whales in summer and autumn in this place.

Infrastructure is gradually developing and improving. Puerto Cayo is a quiet, peaceful and sparsely populated beach. Tourists can sunbathe, swim, fish, practice sport on water: bodyboarding, kitesurfing, surfing.

When is it better to go

In search of a beach holiday, the continental part of Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands can be visited all year round; however, the period from December to May will be the best choice, because the water gets warmer and the rainy season softens the enervating heat.
