Playa Roja beach

Playa Roja is the most unusual beach in Peru, covered with red-orange sand. This is a unique and very picturesque place that all tourists who find themselves nearby try to visit.

Beach description

Playa Roja is a rocky stretch of coast, covered with unusually bright sand. In the bay, located near Paracas, there is often a strong wind, so the waves here are powerful. The Pacific Ocean off the coast is cold and stormy. You can’t swim on the beach, but spending time alone with nature is very pleasant here.

The beach is not used as a resting place close to the water, it is a popular natural monument in Peru. People come here for excursions, for walks and picnics.

Near the beach are located approximately 10 hotels. Among them are both expensive variants offering high-class service, as well as more simple, affordable hotels. All are located less than 1 km from Playa Roja.

When is it better to go

The best time to visit Peru for a beach vacation is during the Peruvian summer, which spans from December to March. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for beachgoers looking to enjoy the country's stunning coastline.

  • December to February: These months are the peak of summer, with hot temperatures and clear skies, ideal for sunbathing and swimming. Coastal cities like Máncora, Punta Sal, and Tumbes are particularly popular during this time.
  • March: As summer winds down, March still provides plenty of sunshine with slightly cooler temperatures, making it a great time for those who prefer less intense heat. It's also a period when the beaches are less crowded, offering a more relaxed atmosphere.

It's important to note that while the northern beaches are suitable for year-round visits due to their tropical climate, the central and southern beaches are best enjoyed during the summer months. Regardless of when you choose to go, Peru's diverse coastline ensures a memorable beach vacation.
