Beach description
The long white sandy Positas Beach stretches for several kilometers. Palms grow along the coast, carefully raised by local hotel workers. This is the most popular resort destination. There are a lot of hotels on the coast for any purse, so the beach is absolutely packed in the high season.
The beach wa named "Little Wells" due to the small failures in the coastal reefs that appear after low tide. There is water left in its that heats up quickly. These natural pools were loved by family tourists with children. The entrance to the sea is gentle, although there are stones. The coast is shallow, but the ocean wave is treacherous, especially at high tide. The Pacific Ocean is powerful and calm, but it waves up every 5-10 minutes.
The beach is reachable by private car if you drive south of Mancora beach on the Pan-American Highway in about 10 minutes.
When is it better to go
The high season in Peru begins in February and lasts until April. It is summer in South America at this time. Ocean water warms up to +24˚С. The air temperature sometimes reaches +40˚С, but the winds become stronger. The rest of the time, the ocean water is cool, not higher than +18˚С. If to go for the sake of a beach holiday, you will not find a better time than in our winter months.
