San Bartolo beach

San Bartolo is located south of Lima, the capital of Peru. It is called a family beach, because the water here is calm due to the stone breaks that protect the coast from the steep waves.

Beach description

At San Bartolo, the entrance to the water is shallow. In high season, it is always crowded. San Bartolo is relatively small compared to other beaches in Peru and runs along the street. There are sea clubs on the beach, which offer a lot of entertainment: for a ride on a boat or an inflatable banana, a yacht or a fishing boat. There are surfers heree, too. But they are not as numerous as in Lobitos or Mancora.

The water here is much colder than in the north, as the Lima area is more remote from the equator. But from here you can go on a tour of the most famous sights of Peru. The Nazca Plateau with its amazing drawings, the Inca town of Machu Piccu. And in Lima, which is located 47 km from San Bartolo, thee is a lot of colonial style architecture.

There are many restaurants on the coast, where local and European cuisine is delicious and very cheap. There are a lot of hotels on the beach for any wallet.

When is it better to go

The high season in Peru begins in February and lasts until April. It is summer in South America at this time. Ocean water warms up to +24˚С. The air temperature sometimes reaches +40˚С, but the winds become stronger. The rest of the time, the ocean water is cool, not higher than +18˚С. If to go for the sake of a beach holiday, you will not find a better time than in our winter months.
