Silver Sands beach

Silver Sands is one of the most popular beaches of Barbados among wind-wave sports lovers. Vast snow-white dunes, shimmering in the sun with a special brilliance, gave it such a poetic name. The convenient location just 14 km south of the island's capital, Bridgetown, only adds to the attractiveness of this coast along with ideal conditions for conquering waves and picturesque landscapes.

Beach description

The Silver Sands are located on the southern outskirts of the island, in Christchurch parish, near South Point Lighthouse. The total length of this picturesque and fairly wide sandy coastline is about 0.5 km.

  • Well-protected natural lagoons and stable strong breezes attract both beginners, who want to learn kiting or surfboarding, as well as experienced kiters and riders to this Barbados beach. It was the ideal conditions for active leisure, that made the coastline be especially popular.
  • But the snow-white sandy coastline with contrasting azure waters in the sea and emerald cut of palm trees on the shore make it a great place for leisurely coastal walks and rest of families with children on the coast.
  • The beach consists of two bays. Its western outskirts are most suitable for a relaxing rest on the coastline. The eastern part of the beach is more attractive for water extreme sports enthusiasts. Stable winds create ideal conditions for windsurfer training here. It was here, that one of the Olympic champions in this sport, Brian Talma, trained. Beginners can practice their skills in a shallow water lagoon.

The beach is usually semi-desert on weekdays. On weekends, water extreme sports enthusiasts come here, but there is never too crowded here. When swimming, it is worth remembering about the possibility of the formation of sudden strong currents. Therefore, novice kiters are not recommended to swim far from the coast.

When is the best time to go?

In Barbados island, the temperature is hot all year round, so the only thing that can ruin your vacation experience is the rainy season in summer. Any other period, the weather in Barbados is sunny and comfortable for all ages.
