Gomati beach
Gomati Beach is a popular wave spot beach on the northern outskirts of Lemnos, about 4 km from the village of Catalakko. A dirt road leads to it, so it is better to leave a car in the village and get on foot.

The coastline of Gomati is wide and long, covered with fine golden sand. The depth is increasing gradually here, so this place is recommended for rest with children. But more often on Gomatiedut for the sake of bright water leisure. When the north winds blow here, the waves can reach several meters height, which made Gomati famous as one of the most popular windsurf and kite spots on the island.
Professional kiters, who dreams to test themselves under more difficult riding conditions, come here, because the sea bottom is sandy-rocky, with a prevalence of rocks. On the Gomati beach, there is rarely too crowded, so partial solitude is possible, and kiters may not be afraid to face their colleagues.
On the coast there are sunbeds and umbrellas, there are beach bars and taverns. You should definitely walk to the southwest of the beach and visit the local dunes of Ammotines. During the walk it is possible to admire the contrasting transformation of views, when olive groves are replaced by picturesque dunes. Here, fine sand with a reddish hue creates the illusion of falling into the African desert, and not on the coastline of a Greek island.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
