Thanos beach
Thanos Beach is a picturesque beach in a natural bay on the southwest coast of Lemnos, located at the foot of the village of the same name, south of Plati (40 minutes walk) and about 4 km from the island’s capital . He gained special popularity because of the incredibly beautiful contrasts in the landscape: a wide strip of white sand with the background of green hills surrounding the coast, dark cliffs of volcanic origin and blue sea waters with emerald overflow.

Incredibly clear waters and sand on the coast, combined with such picturesque views and developed infrastructure, were marked with the Blue Flag. Thanos is one of the 4 beaches of Lemnos, marked with this award and is therefore worthy of attention.
The primeval views of the coastline contrast with numerous taverns, beach bars on the coast and modern hotels nearby, allowing to spend your rest with maximum comfort. It is seldom to be windy on Thanos beach, the waters are the calmest, and the entry is quite sloping, which allows to rest on it even with small children. Comfortable sunbeds and beach umbrellas are provided for free on the coastline.
In the outskirts of the beach there are many sea caves and grottoes. Snorkeling is very popular here. In the village of Thanosit is possible to find many cozy taverns and admire the colourful old houses in the Venetian style, as well as the old Church of the Virgin Mary, located on a rock.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
