Isola Bella beach

The Pearl of Sicily, a bay in the from of a crescent and a reserve

Isola Bella is a pebbly beach near the center of Taormina. It belongs to the Isola Bella Nature Reserve and is a popular place among tourists. The shore consists of pebbles, and sometimes the pebbles are mixed with coarse sand. The shape of the shore resembles a crescent. The left side is developed for tourism, the right side is more wild. Here you can get away from the annoying crowd of tourists. It's not hard to get there, the sea is clean and shallow.

Beach description

The entire shore is covered with fine pebbles mixed with larger stones and sand. For a comfortable stay you' ll need a deck chair or at least a mattress. The infrastructure is not well developed on free plots. Paid land plots belonging to hotels are equipped with everything necessary.

Paid services:

  • parasols;
  • refreshments;
  • lawn chairs;
  • showers and toilets;
  • fresh water.

The bottom of the sea is rocky, as is the entry into the water. In some places in the water there are big and sharp stones. In order not to get hurt, you need to be careful and buy special shoes for swimming. The sea is shallow, it won't be possible to dive and swim, but the water is crystal clear and the bottom is visible even in deep water areas.

The beach is very popular during the peak season, which lasts from July to September. The main audience is young people and married couples. Despite the fact that the beach is rocky, it's real delight for children. There are no depths and big waves, you can ride a banana boat, excursions to the reserve are also popular. Isola Bella Island is connected to the coast by a narrow isthmus. You can get there on foot or by boat. Entrance is for a fee, about 4 euros. The reserve attracts tourists with its picturesque vegetation, and you can also dive to the bottom of the sea with a scuba set. The beach can be reached by bus from the centre of Taormina city or by cable car.

When is it better to go

In terms of climate, the period from May to October is the most favorable for visiting Italy. The air and water temperature becomes ideal for a classic beach holiday, followed by a trip to the coast of Italy. However, it is necessary to remember that a long summer with the scorching sun, warm sea and pleasant sea breeze attracts crowds of tourists.
