Isola delle Correnti beach

In the south of Sicily is the Isola delle Correnti beach, the name of which coincides with the nearby mini-island of Correnti. If you are using your own transport, then it is easy to get to the beach: it will take no more than an hour from the town of Syracuse. It is necessary to drive along the A18 motorway, and then look at the signs.

Beach description

The beach is famous for large and strong waves, that foam, heave and break on rocks. Therefore, surfing professionals gather here and even world competitions are held. The place is very windy. And if the weather is good enough, from the coast it is possible to see a strip, where two seas, different in colour and density, intersect with each other. The beach itself is vast, long, from the cape goes west and east. With soft golden sand, unusually saturated blue colour of the sea, it is surrounded by wild, untreated nature, which makes the beach a truly romantic place.

if desired, it is possible to go on an excursion to the Spanish castle of Tafuri. This is an ancient place, that is now used for practical purposes: a chic hotel is built in it. Not far from the castle there is an abandoned factory, where tuna was previously processed. The remains of the church of the 17th century, several walls, a loggia and even a stove - this is what remains of the industrial monument. And on the beach itself it is possible to see the old abandoned lighthouse, where a caretaker lived a few years ago.

When is it better to go

In terms of climate, the period from May to October is the most favorable for visiting Italy. The air and water temperature becomes ideal for a classic beach holiday, followed by a trip to the coast of Italy. However, it is necessary to remember that a long summer with the scorching sun, warm sea and pleasant sea breeze attracts crowds of tourists.
