Halaktyr Beach
Halaktyr beach is known among domestic and foreign surfers as a spot with a good wave. However, the beach area is so large that here you can easily find a secluded place if you want to sunbathe, lie on the sand, swim, have a picnic, and take beautiful pictures. The beach looks especially amazing in winter period and during storm, when huge ocean waves collapse on the coast of Kamchatka.

Halaktyr beach, or simply "Halaktyrka", is an open and spacious stretch with width of 100 m and length of about 30 km, located on the coast of Avachinsky Bay, in the southeastern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula between the Halaktyrka and Nalychevka rivers. The coastline of the beach area is covered by clean ash-black sand of volcanic origin. Due to the minerals contained in it, sand heated by the sun has healing properties. In the background of the beach area there is a forest, in summer full of berries and mushrooms.
Water in the beach are is clear, turquoise, always cold and even in the summer season does not warm up above + 15 ° C. People rarely swim here, mostly preferring to ride the board along the waves, sunbathing, walking along the coast, and having picnics. Those who decide to swim in coastal waters should be careful because of a strong current here.
Halaktyrka is very popular among local residents, therefore in the summer, especially on weekends, the beach is quite crowded. It is located only 10 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and you can get to it in several ways:
- on SUV, turning after the village of Zaozerny towards the ocean;
- by taxi;
- by regular bus going to the village of Dolinovka (No. 8) or the village of Zaozerny (No. 24), and then walking about 5 km;
- in winter - on a snowmobile.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to relax on the Far East coast is July and August. At this time, the temperature of water and air reaches maximum levels: about + 20°C on ground and slightly lower in the ocean. Summer in Primorye is rather short and foggy, especially in the southern regions - the humidity there is much higher, which also contributes to a comfortable rest.

Infrastructure
Halaktyr beach is a natural beach with minimal range of tourist infrastructure. In summer period there is surfing camp and visit center operating. Some vacationers come here specially to spend a few days away from urban civilization, living in a tent, enjoying clean sea air and local natural beauties. TErritory of the beach is partially equiped. The following features are available to visitors:
- volleyball, football an golf areas;
- children's playground;
- wooden flooring for walking on feet;
- benches and stationary binoculars with which you can view the surroundings.
In addition, on the beach there is a souvenir shop, a surfing school, equipment rental, a cafe where you can have a lunch. In the summer season, festivals, sports competitions, photo exhibitions and other events are often held on Halaktyrsky beach. Because of the frequent tsunami in the area, there is no permanent housing near the beach. In summer, vacationers live in tents or go to spend the night in villages nearby.
