Nikolskaya Sopka Beach
Nikolskaya Sopka (Sopka of Love) is located in the very center of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and is very popular among locals and visitors of the city. It is nice to walk along the picturesque paths, admire beautiful views, sometimes even sunbathe on its hills. And going down the stairs, you can walk along the sea at the very foot of the sopka, breathe fresh air, and, if you get lucky, find a starfish thrown ashore.

Beach description
Nikolskaya Sopka Beach is a narrow coastal strip of pebbles washed by the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is pleasant to stroll along the beach at sunset, listening to the sound of waves and admiring Avacha Bay and the ships standing on the raid. In summer you can sunbathe, and especially hot days even swim. The beach is equipped with benches and arbors for relaxing, in the evening it is beautifully illuminated by lanterns, which creates a romantic atmosphere.
In 2018, a large-scale reconstruction of Nikolskaya Sopka was started, during which stairs and paths were repaired, an observation deck with a special location for newlyweds was organized, free Wi-Fi was launched and original installations and art objects appeared. The beach was cleaned of garbage and seaweeds, free toilets and changing cabins appeared on the shore.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to relax on the Far East coast is July and August. At this time, the temperature of water and air reaches maximum levels: about + 20°C on ground and slightly lower in the ocean. Summer in Primorye is rather short and foggy, especially in the southern regions - the humidity there is much higher, which also contributes to a comfortable rest.
