Beach description
From this coastal area, part of the Ses Salines protected zone, you can behold one of Formentera's natural wonders - the uninhabited rocky islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell, soaring to heights of 382 and 128 meters respectively. Typically, a few boats can be seen at rest near these majestic formations. The beach's hinterland is fringed by sand dunes that border a shady pine grove, extending to the vast salt lagoon of Estany Pudent.
There are two exceedingly popular bars on this wild-looking beach in Formentera. Each day, as the sun prepares to set, they welcome numerous guests from across the island for the "puesta de sol," an age-old ritual of watching the sun sink into the sea at the water's edge.
Es Cavall d'en Borras, nestled between La Savina port and Ses Illetes beach, is accessible by car, with clear road signs guiding the way, or by bus. Some tourists opt to travel on foot or by bicycle along a scenic coastal road that begins at the port.
When is it better to go-
Formentera, the smallest of Spain's Balearic Islands, is a serene beach paradise, best enjoyed during specific times of the year. To make the most of its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, timing your visit is key.
The ideal time to visit Formentera for a beach vacation is between late May and early October. During these months, the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for beach activities and swimming.
- Late May to June: This period is excellent for visitors looking to enjoy the tranquility of the island before the high season crowds. The sea temperature is pleasant, and the island's natural beauty is in full bloom.
- July to August: These are the busiest months, attracting tourists with its peak summer temperatures and vibrant nightlife. If you don't mind the crowds, this is the time to experience Formentera at its most lively.
- September to early October: The island begins to quiet down, but the weather remains warm enough for beach-going. This is a great time for those seeking a more peaceful beach experience.
To avoid the cooler, more unpredictable weather, it's best to steer clear of the off-season months from November to April. Whenever you choose to visit, Formentera's beaches are sure to be a highlight of your trip.
