Beach description
Kai Bae is one of the first places, where locals in the mid-eighties opened their homes for adventurous Chinese and American tourists. Since then, this part of the island has developed a lot and has been built up with numerous shops and hotels, bars and restaurants. They say, that most of the land on the beach still belongs to one large family, that providently refused to sell it, when more and more vacationers began to arrive on the island.
Located in the very middle of the west coastline, Kai Bae is situated between the calm Klong Prao and the noisy and youthful Lonly, thereby absorbing the best of both beaches - the rich infrastructure and the relative calm, necessary for a family rest. South of a small bay, the highway bends, becoming much closer to the coastline.
During high tide, almost the entire coastline on the beach is hidden by water, there is absolutely no place to lie on the sand. However, if you get to low tide, in order to swim normally, you have to walk a couple of tens of meters into the sea - the coast here, like everywhere on the island of Koh Chang, is shallow.
When is the best time to go?
The period from November to March is considered the high season in Thailand. Comfortable air temperature, as well as minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for a beach holiday.

Lovers of exotic entertainment can find the Meechai elephant camp on the opposite end of the beach - here it is possible to ride an elephant with an instructor. A couple of young elephants sometimes even go to the beach to splash in the sea water. You will have to pay for a individual photo with young elephants.
