Pearl beach

Pearl Beach is the Pearl of Koh Chang island

Despite its name, Pearl Beach does not offer the quintessential sandy shores one might expect. Instead, it boasts a unique, pebbly landscape devoid of sand. Nestled between White Sand Beach and Chai Chet Hotel, this compact stretch is a hidden gem where you won't encounter throngs of tourists or extensive facilities. Yet, therein lies its charm. Pearl Beach is an idyllic retreat for those seeking solitude without straying far from the comforts of civilization.

Beach description

Often mistaken for a part of White Sand by travel agency listings, Pearl Beach does not live up to its name: it lacks the pleasing variety of shops, restaurants, and discotheques found elsewhere. The bustling tourist life remains to the north, at White Sand. Here, the absence of sand means that swimming requires special slippers to avoid injury from the rocky seabed. Despite this, a handful of excellent hotels are available, though they attract fewer tourists. The main allure of Pearl Beach is its tranquility and serenity.

Pearl Beach is renowned for offering the island's premier snorkeling experiences. To behold the stunning reefs, one must venture 50-70 meters from the shore due to the extensive shallow waters. Diving here reveals a more abundant variety of fish than found in other locales.

For those familiar with the beach or intending to spend at least three weeks on the island, Pearl Beach is an attractive choice. Its relative proximity to sandy beaches and budget-friendly accommodations make it a compelling option.

Optimal Visiting Times

The best time to visit Ko Chang for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which spans from November to February. During these months, the weather is ideal with minimal rainfall, clear skies, and comfortable temperatures that are perfect for beach activities and exploring the island.

  • November to February: This is the peak season for tourism due to the excellent weather conditions. The sea is calm, making it great for swimming and water sports. However, it's also the busiest time, so expect more crowds and higher prices.
  • March to May: These months mark the transition from the dry to the wet season. The weather is hotter and more humid, but you can still enjoy sunny days on the beach. It's a good time for those looking to avoid the peak season crowds.
  • June to October: This is the monsoon season with frequent rains and rougher seas, which may not be ideal for beach activities. However, the island is less crowded, and the lush greenery is at its peak, offering a different kind of beauty.

In conclusion, for the quintessential beach vacation experience in Ko Chang, planning your visit between November and February is highly recommended.
