White Sand beach
The beach got its name thanks to the beautiful white sand, which is replaced by shingle and rocks only at its southern top end. The oldest on Koh Chang island, the three-kilometer White Sand beach still remembers the times, when there were few tourists, and instead of luxury hotels, there were only plain bungalow-houses, rented by local Thais for the weekend.

Much has changed since then, and now White Sand is the most popular beach on the island, which can boast of the most developed infrastructure. A three-kilometer long sandy strip from one side is surrounded by a wide road, on both sides of which there are all kinds of bars, clothing stores and souvenir shops, restaurants, tattoo parlors, ATMs and exchange offices, pharmacies, karaoke and day spas. Hotels to every taste and financial opportunities are available : from cheap bungalows to luxury villas.
The beach itself is almost adjacent to the ferry pier. From a high steep hill it is possible to see a beautiful panorama: the jungle, the beach and the sea, blue as a summer sky. This beach is ideal for rest with small children, because the coast is shallow, you will have to spend time to go into the depths. If you think, that swimming in the sea and devoid of activity pastime on the beach, is the best vacation for yourself, then there is no better place than White Sand.
Unfortunately, here, like on other beaches of Koh Chang, water attractions are not available. The island is declared the National Park of Thailand, therefore, it is prohibited here not only to use water attractions (which pollute clear water with gasoline), but also to build buildings above 3-4 floors not to spoil the beautiful view.
White Sand is traditionally divided into two halves: north and south. On the south side there are more luxury hotels and people, while the north is more modest, there are many bungalows and hotels, located directly on the beach, in which you will not get from the side of the road.
When is the best time to go?
The period from November to March is considered the high season in Thailand. Comfortable air temperature, as well as minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for a beach holiday.

Infrastructure
White Sand Beach is famous for its most developed infrastructure on the island. On the adjacent road it is possible to find establishments to every taste, many of which work until the early hours of the morning or even around the clock. If you are dealing with a bungalow or a small hotel, be prepared for an unpleasant surprise: some of them cannot be booked in advance, you will only have to look for a free place upon arrival, which is a risky business in high season.
A hotel is suitable for wealthy tourists Chang Buri Resort & Spa, whose units are located on both sides of the road within walking distance of the beach: To compensate for such a long (by local standards) trip, the hotel offers two pools and a beautiful panorama with sea view. Another luxury hotel, that has recently decided to build a new unit, – KC Grande Resort & Spa – can boast of not only three standard units, but also luxurious bungalows, located right on the beach. Koh Chang Kacha Resort & Spa, which is located in the very middle of the beach, is another option for a comfortable rest with all conditions.
At the very beginning of the northern top end is the hotel WhiteSandBeachResort. Due to its remoteness, there are few tourists here, however, poor transport accessibility can be a serious disadvantage. The beach also abounds in budget options: colourful guest houses and bungalows in Rock Sand will allow to save money (bungalows cost from 400 baht per day), and enjoy the view of the sea, which is adjacent to the houses.
On the White Sand beach, it is possible to find any kind of establishment, both for a light snack, and for a solid meal. Restaurants of traditional Thai cuisine with live music, pubs with quite European steaks, beach bars with fire shows and loud music, that does not subside until six in the morning.
