Beach description
The southern part of the beach with a smooth descent is covered in large golden sand. A swampy area covered in stones with an uncomfortable descent is located in the northern part. Casuarina trees form light shadow along the whole beach. The infrastructure is poor. There aren't many restaurants and cafes and no rental stores at all. Kaw Kwang isn't very popular which is why it rarely sees large crowds of visitors. Water floods the majority of the beach during tides which prevents further development.
The new fashionable Crown Lanta Resort and Spa is located on a small hill in the middle of Kaw Kwang and has its own developed part of the beach with a pool, comfortable rest zone with sunbeds and umbrellas, playgrounds, restaurants, coffee houses and bars. Trespassers aren't welcome on the hotel's territory, but thanks to its construction, Kaw Kwang has become much more popular. You can get to the beach on foot or by rickshaw from the passenger or cargo pier in the cape's direction.
When is it better to go
The period from November to March is considered the high season in Thailand. Comfortable air temperature, as well as minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for a beach holiday.
