Klong Dao beach

Klong Dao Beach is located on the Ko Lanta Island in the southern part of Krabi province. It's situated on the west coast of a picturesque semicircle bay near Saladan village. The best spots for swimming are in the central and southern areas of Klong Dao. The northern part of the beach is covered in stones and has shallow waters not suitable for swimming.

Beach description

The 3 km long coastline of Klong Dao is covered in grainy light sand perfect for barefoot walking. The descent is smooth and quite long. The bottom is sandy. The water is transparent and calm. There are no high waves or wind. You'll need to walk farther than 10 meters to reach deep water. The central part of Klong Dao is the best for swimming enthusiasts as reaching deep waters is easier from here. A big area is uncovered after low tides, covered in crab holes. The sand is thick which makes it easy to walk with a baby carriage or ride a bicycle.

The beach is very wide and quite crowded. The majority of island's visitors gather here. Many come with young children. Elderly and middle-aged people are also frequent guests. Not a lot of youth comes here as the calm atmosphere dominates the area and night parties are prohibited. Spectacular fire shows that happen in the evening will bring variety to your vacation.

Despite the overabundance of coastal flora that surrounds the beach, there's little natural shadow on Klong Dao. Umbrellas, sunbeds, showers with fresh water, fresh water pools etc. are available here. Renting sunbeds will cost 70-100 Thai baht. You can also order a massage session for about 400 Thai baht. Klong Dao is a great place for a calm vacation, swimming, sunbathing and picnics. There are snorkeling spots in the south of the beach.

When is it better to go

The period from November to March is considered the high season in Thailand. Comfortable air temperature, as well as minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for a beach holiday.
