Klong Dao beach
Klong Dao Beach, nestled on Ko Lanta Island in the southern reaches of Krabi province, graces the west coast with its picturesque semicircular bay, just a stone's throw from Saladan Village. For those seeking the perfect swim, the central and southern stretches of Klong Dao offer the most inviting waters. However, visitors should note that the northern end of the beach, with its stone-strewn shore and shallow waters, is less conducive to swimming.

Beach description
The 3 km long coastline of Klong Dao is covered in grainy, light sand, perfect for barefoot walking. The descent is smooth and quite long, with a sandy bottom. The water is transparent and calm, devoid of high waves or strong winds. You'll need to walk farther than 10 meters to reach deep water. The central part of Klong Dao is the best for swimming enthusiasts, as reaching deep waters is easier from here. After low tides, a large area is uncovered, revealing a landscape dotted with crab holes. The thick sand makes it easy to walk with a baby carriage or ride a bicycle.
The beach is very wide and can become quite crowded, as it attracts the majority of the island's visitors. Many come with young children, while elderly and middle-aged people are also frequent guests. The youth are less common here, as the calm atmosphere prevails and night parties are prohibited. However, spectacular fire shows in the evening will add variety to your vacation.
Despite the overabundance of coastal flora surrounding the beach, there is little natural shade on Klong Dao. Amenities such as umbrellas, sunbeds, and showers with fresh water are available, along with freshwater pools. Renting sunbeds will cost between 70-100 Thai baht. For an added touch of relaxation, you can indulge in a massage session for approximately 400 Thai baht. Klong Dao is an ideal destination for a tranquil vacation, offering swimming, sunbathing, and picnics. There are also snorkeling spots in the southern part of the beach.
When is it better to go
-
The best time to visit Ko Lanta for a beach vacation is during its dry season, which typically runs from November to April. This period offers the ideal combination of sunny skies, calm seas, and a vibrant atmosphere perfect for beachgoers.
- November to February: This is the peak tourist season in Ko Lanta, characterized by mild temperatures and minimal rainfall. The weather is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying water sports.
- March to April: These months mark the end of the high season, with temperatures rising slightly. It's still a great time to visit, especially for those looking to avoid the peak season crowds. The warm and clear water during this period is ideal for snorkeling and diving.
While the off-season from May to October sees heavier rainfall and rougher seas, it can also offer a more secluded and peaceful experience. However, for the quintessential beach vacation with ample sunshine and excellent beach conditions, planning your trip between November and April is highly recommended.
