Klong Khong beach

Klong Khong is a wide sandy beach located in the central part of Ko Lanta's west coast.

Beach description

The curvy 3 km long coastline is covered in grainy golden sand, sometimes mixed with pebbles and coral. Some stone piles can be encountered on the beach and in the water. The descent is quite smooth but uneven. The sea bottom is also uneven and covered in sand and pebbles. The water is transparent and calm. The unevenness of the sea bottom is easily visible through the water. It can be challenging to swim during low tides as you'll need to walk for about 40 meters before reaching deep waters. The beach doesn't look too pretty during these periods due to the dirty stones. The best swimming spot is located on the northern edge of the beach.

Palm thickets and casuarina trees stretch along Klong Khong, with cafes, restaurants, boutique hotels and massage parlours operating under the trees. Tourists include families with children, youth and elderly visitors.

Fishermen boats can be seen on the water surface and the coast, spoiling the overall picture. The infrastructure is quite poor, with a lack of umbrellas and sunbeds for everyone, and the natural shadow changes its direction after noon. You can rest in a cafe during the day and watch a fire show or go to a party in the evening.

When is it better to go

The period from November to March is considered the high season in Thailand. Comfortable air temperature, as well as minimal rainfall create optimal conditions for a beach holiday.
