Ain Sokhna beach

Ain Sokhna is a small resort town in the depths of the Gulf of Suez in the north-west of the Red Sea. This place is located as close as possible to the metropolitan area - the city of Cairo. The Gulf of Suez is expanding somewhat to the west, forming a small bay, protruding into the rocky coast for almost thirty kilometers.

The beach is located in the north to the city, this area is also called Al Khafer.

Beach description

The beach itself is a classic representation in pictures and in the dreams of anyone going on vacation. For almost five kilometers the entire beach consists of golden sand, which gradually turns into a snow-white gradient directly closer to the sea.

Sand of the same small size almost lies throughout its entire length. There are no stone clusters at this place, as well as large cobblestones, which are often present on almost the entire coast of Egypt.

The sea near the beach is shallow in a rather large area, the bottom sinks slowly, the depth grows more with ledges. The bottom is sandy in most places with a lot of corals. However, there are practically no clusters of them even in the depths of the sea.

Small canopies can be arranged in some places (more often on the border of hotels and hotel zones) where you can drink soft drinks. Also, these zones are numerous moles and protrude somewhat into the sea. Therefore, there is rarely a high wave on the beach, despite the fact that there is a busy sea route three tens of kilometers from here.

When is it better to go?

Red Sea resorts are open year-round. However, in July and August it is better to refrain from traveling, because there is unbearable heat, approximately 35-40 degrees, you can sunbathe in the sun instantly. May-June and September-October is the best time to travel to Egypt, because the heat is decreasing and hotel prices are getting lower (since the Mediterranean holiday season is still open).

Infrastructure

There is a separate resort urban area directly next to the beach. All-inclusive hotels are located In Al Hafire exclusively. Most of them, besides access to the beach, also have large internal areas with pools, green areas and even fountains. Most of the infrastructure details are located directly on the hotel grounds. And access there is available for guests only. At the same time, a large number of lawn chairs are available on the beach. It’s very difficult to find an additional shadow from the sun.

The cost of hotels can fluctuate very seriously and depends more on the date than the season. The price jumps about a quarter over the weekend.

For instance, Jaz Little Venice Golf Resort located somewhat south of the center of the hotel town can offer five-star rooms at a price of $110 for two adults on weekdays. On weekends (from Saturday to Sunday, the night from Friday or to Monday is not considered weekends) the same accommodation - from $130.

When you move away from the beach, the cost slightly drops. For example, a Marina wadi degla villa 4room hotel can provide a room for accommodation at $65-$70. And provides an additional discount of up to a quarter of the cost for early booking.

Useful information

There is practically no shadow on the beach. The only things that can protect during the day from the sun are lawn chairs. However, for the most part they are owned by hotels. Outsiders can only rent those if the hotel is not filled with guests on that day.

Therefore, if you want to go to relax and sunbathe on this beach, living in Ain Sokhna or in another area (not Al Hafayr), then you should think about renting a car. To arrive in the morning, when the sun still does not burn your skin yet. And leave as the risk of getting a sunburn arises, without wasting time waiting for a taxi.
