Sharm El Luli beach

Sharm el Luli - a small bay on the west coast of the Red Sea. Located in the heart of the coastal Egyptian national park Wadi al-Gemal. This place lies about 40 kilometers south of the developing resort of Marsa Alam. You can get there by a convenient, but not quite high-quality highway, going sharply south along the entire coast of the south of the country.

Beach description

The beach itself consists of very fine sand of various colors depending on the place and level of illumination. For the most part, the sand is dazzling white, consists of limestone crushed by the waves. Very often, large sandy edges are interrupted by piles of hard limestone. They are small even surfaces one and a half meters high above the sand. And suitable for leisurely tanning immediately on the stones, without the use of a lawn chair.

Some of these rocky spots protrude into the sea quite strongly, forming natural springboards from which you can dive into the sea while doing snorkeling. However, even here the depth will reach even four to five meters. And to contemplate the great depths you will need to move away a bit from the coast.

Otherwise, the depth of the sea near the coast is relatively small. It counts on average no more than a meter and a half. During low tides, large areas of sandbars can be exposed. And for swimming in the sea you will need to walk more than a hundred meters. In some places at a small distance from the coast, there may be separate small corals. And therefore, one should be careful so as not to damage the legs on them. However, in clear blue water, such obstacles are clearly visible from afar.

At a relatively distance from the coast, where the bay itself ends, large coral reefs begin in the open sea, amazing in their beauty and richness. You can get to them either from Mars Alam on boats, or swim from the capes that border the bay. This is only worth doing if you have confidence in your abilities and in the posession of a high level of swimming. Because of the shallows, boats and boats rarely approach to the beach directly.

When is it better to go?

Red Sea resorts are open year-round. However, in July and August it is better to refrain from traveling, because there is unbearable heat, approximately 35-40 degrees, you can sunbathe in the sun instantly. May-June and September-October is the best time to travel to Egypt, because the heat is decreasing and hotel prices are getting lower (since the Mediterranean holiday season is still open).

Infrastructure

There are no large hotels on the beach. It organizes transfers by individual tourist groups travel agencies or directly from the hotels of the resort of Marsa Alam.

Transfers can be arranged both by road and by sea. In the last case, these are groups that are initially sent for diving and snorkeling. A separate stop will not be made for them in order to swim in the sea and sunbathe on the beach.

A large number of hotels were previously built in Marsa Alam, but some of them were frozen due to the crisis and the threat of terrorist attacks. As a result of the outflow of tourists, many hotels remained in the city, fighting for each client. The price level is quite acceptable and low even by Egyptian standards as a result.

Almost any hotel will cost $100-$110 for two adults using the all-inclusive service. Labranda Gemma Premium Resort stands out among them, a resort complex that further reduces the price by a bit, providing discounts on earlier reservations.
