Makadi Bay beach

Makadi Bay is the only resort in Egypt designed specifically for tourists, with no locals living in this part of the country. Most of this coast part is deserted, except for luxury hotels and villas. The resort is designed for secluded and quiet rest among the most beautiful views of the endless Red Sea.

Beach description

Makadi Bay beach is located in a quiet bay of the same name, situated in the Red Sea Riviera on the west coast of the Red Sea. The easiest way to get there is from Hurghada Airport, with a travel time of no more than 30-40 minutes. Beautiful pristine landscapes surround this beach: endless dunes, flawless Red Sea and the majestic Sinai mountains.

Makadi Bay is a pure, soft, white sand that shimmers with perlaceous reflections in the sunlight. The water on this beach is clear with a nice blue tint. Entry to the sea depends on the hotel, the whole coast is conditionally divided between the hotel complexes. Most of the coast has a sandy bottom, but some parts of the beach are covered with corals, that's why you need special shoes. The sea is mostly calm without waves and strong winds. And also on this beach you have to meet the dawn. It's amazing moments in which the bright sun shines on the ridges of the Sinai mountains, giving them a magnificence.

Makadi Bay is called a promising resort, which is constantly developing and improving. This place is popular among families with children. Young people can find this resort boring, because the entire infrastructure is limited to the hotel.

When is it better to go?

Red Sea resorts are open year-round. However, in July and August it is better to refrain from traveling, because there is unbearable heat, approximately 35-40 degrees, you can sunbathe in the sun instantly. May-June and September-October is the best time to travel to Egypt, because the heat is decreasing and hotel prices are getting lower (since the Mediterranean holiday season is still open).

Infrastructure

Makadi Bay is still administratively related to Hurghada, but according to forecasts in the next 5-10 years, this flawless stretch of coast will turn into a separate resort with its own infrastructure. Makadi Bay is recognized as one of the most respectable places among the Red Sea resorts.

All hotels on the shore are built in the same style, so day and evening walk through the hotel complex, surrounded by magnificent buildings, famous boutiques, and colorful restaurants, will bring only pleasant emotions. The most popular place among tourists is Jaz Makadi Star and Spa. This is a comfortable and modern hotel, offering not only a beach holiday, but also the active one:

  • diving, snorkelling;
  • fitness center;
  • pilates;
  • tennis court;
  • football field.

It is also interesting that the lush green and vegetation cover only the territory of the hotels, beyond them, there is an uninhabited sandy desert.

Useful information

It’s worth going to Makadi Bay beach at least to get to know the fabulous and beautiful underwater world of the Red Sea.

There are two coral reefs in Makadi Bay. And only when diving in 10-20 cm you can meet mackerel, majestic rays, dangerous barracudas and quiet sharks. There is a particular interest in the Abu Nachish island, surrounded by magnificent coral reefs, which are up to 1 km long.

Another favorite place for divers is Giftun island near Hurghada. A pirate ship loaded with gold sank in this part of the Red Sea many years ago. Since then, everyone has dreamt of finding a pirate treasure.
