Legzira beach

Legzira Beach takes the 29th place in the list of 40 most beautiful beaches in the world. Such a high praise among tourists for the beach was provided by natural clay-sand arches of red color that go straight into the ocean and washed by its steep waves. This little-known and secluded beach is located in the south of Morocco in the village of the same name that is 10 km from Sidi Ifni and 150 km from Agadir. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, one of the 4 arches called the elephant’s collapsed, and only a pile of stones remained in its place.

Beach description

Legzira is a deserted beach where there are usually few visitors. People don’t go swimming here because:

  • The Atlantic Ocean in the area of the beach is restless - the wind always blows here, and there are waves 2-3 meters high;
  • water in coastal waters does not heat up above 21°C due to the proximity of cold currents, so if you go into the water, it is better to do this after wearing a wetsuit;
  • the beach is wild and undeveloped, there are no usual beach services, such as showers, bars or rental umbrellas;
  • the beach cover, as well as the entrance to the sea, is rocky.

But it’s worth to come here to walk along the water's edge and take pictures of stunning sea landscapes. By the way, the arches formed in the rocks are quite high - up to 20 m. You can safely walk under them. You just need to be careful because sometimes stones roll from them.

The types of arched cliffs and the ocean, which can be found only here, impress with their unearthly beauty, so Legzira beach is popular with tourists who appreciate romance and want to see unusual places. At low tide, here you can walk far along the coast and see not only the arches behind each other, but also the beach behind them.

Legzira Beach is in a remote place. You can get to it only by car, taxi or passing bus. And to get to the beach, you will still have to go down to the sea on foot from a steep slope covered with grass.

When is the best time to go?

The beach season in Morocco opens in April and comes to a close in October. The best months to visit the resorts of this country are May-June and September-October.

Surfers in the Legzira beach area usually live in campsites set up right on the coast. Other categories of tourists who come here for a couple of days or longer prefer to stay in hotels located in settlements adjacent to the beach. For example, in the hotel Appartement Noumous offering cozy rooms, a terrace with ocean views, as well as free parking and Wi-Fi. Near the hotel there are also several fish restaurants and shops. Useful information

Since Legzira beach is located on the west coast, it is best to come here before sunset. The photoshoot that you can shoot in the evening on the beach will be unusually beautiful. In addition, it will be interesting to observe the dawn at the ocean: how the inhospitable and cold color of the Atlantic waves under the rays of the rising sun is transformed.

The nearest large settlement in the Legzira area is the town of Sidi Ifni, which is worth a visit for the Ifni Surf surf center.
