Beach description
The coastline is covered in white and black volcanic sand that sparkles under the sun. The descent is smooth, the sea bottom is sandy and the waves aren't high. Children will feel comfortable here.
The beaches of Gorgona can be quite crowded during weekends, when the residents of the capital and other parts of the country come here. The tourist infrastructure of the town allows for an active development thanks to its location in a good climatic savannah zone, where sunny days comprise the majority of the year, and precipitation periods are rare and short.
The best way to get to Gorgona is by bus or rented car via the Panamerican highway from Panama City and other towns in the region.
When is it better to go
Favorable time for a beach holiday in Panama begins in the second half of December and lasts until April. Air temperature during this period does not exceed + 32 °C, water temperature – not lower than + 23 °C. It is noteworthy that in the Caribbean Sea the water is several degrees warmer than on the Pacific coast.
