Livadakia beach

Located on the eastern coast of Serifos within the boundaries of the village of Livadi. Despite the proximity of the port, it is very popular among tourists and residents of the island due to its convenient location, a cozy sandy coastline surrounded by shady trees, and a crystal clear sea. The beach offers magnificent views of the harbor and the neighboring island of Sifnos, and at night, when the moored ships include multi-colored lights and the village is lit up with millions of lights, the spectacle becomes simply fantastic.

Beach description

The beach is located in the western part of a vast crescent-like bay, and is reliably protected from strong winds and currents. The beach is narrow but long enough, covered with soft golden sand and surrounded with tamarisk and palm groves. The sea here is of the azure color, always clear and transparent, shallow, and warm. Strong waves occur extremely rarily on Livadakia which attracts families with small kids to this beach. For them, all the required conditions are created: children's town, swimming area fenced with beacons, and numerous cafes and small stores with drinks and ice cream. Adults will get their share of entertainment as well - there are water games on the beach, together with the water sports equipment rent station, a volley-ball net and a site fro active games.

The central zone of Livadakia is equipped with umbrellas and sling chairs, and in tree shadows, you will find numerous taverns and beach bars. During the day, you can make a light meal and wait until heat fades, and in the evening, have two or three cocktails, and have fun at the vibrant disco party till the first rays of sun.

In the high season, the beach is especially crowded, so it's reasonable to come earlier, or stay behind the cape, southwards. Koralli Beach which is not as shadowy and well-equipped as Livadakia is situated there. As a rule, nudists and LGBT community prefer it. It's easy to get to the beach on feet: it will take you maximum ten minutes to walk there from the village center, and even less if you go from the pier. It is very convenient because you don't have to worry about the place on the parking lot which is very small for a beach of such size.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Useful information

Just five kilometers north of Livadia is Chora (Serifos), the capital of the island. You can even walk there, the journey does not take more than an hour. Chora is a completely stunning town, perhaps the only one that has not lost its true Cycladic charm. Located on a high hill, it resembles a giant cake decorated with figures of snow-white marzipan.

The best view open from the outskirts of Chora, and getting on its cobbled narrow streets, you immediately feel the amazing atmosphere of harmony and serenity. Here at every step you can find residential buildings with fragments of ancient fortresses embedded in the walls, fragments of ancient statues in the courtyards of the houses, tiny churches and windmills dating back several centuries. There are several museums in Chora where you can get acquainted with the history and cultural traditions of these places. But it would be more appropriate to sit down at the table of one of the cafes in the central square, slowly drink a cup o coffee or a glass of wine and, closing your eyes for a second, feel like a completely happy person.
