Livadakia beach

Nestled on the eastern coast of Serifos, Livadakia Beach lies within the charming village of Livadi. Despite its close proximity to the bustling port, this idyllic spot remains a favorite among tourists and island residents alike, thanks to its convenient location, inviting sandy shores fringed by welcoming shade trees, and the allure of a crystal-clear sea. The beach boasts breathtaking views of the harbor and the nearby island of Sifnos. As dusk falls, the scene transforms into a magical display: moored ships twinkle with multi-colored lights, and the village comes alive, illuminated by a myriad of lights that create a truly fantastic spectacle.

Beach description

Livadakia Beach, nestled in the western part of a vast crescent-shaped bay, offers a serene haven reliably shielded from strong winds and currents. This beach may be narrow, but it stretches out generously, adorned with soft golden sand and framed by lush tamarisk and palm groves. The sea, a mesmerizing shade of azure, invites with its clarity, transparency, and pleasantly warm, shallow waters. Rarely will you encounter strong waves at Livadakia, making it an idyllic spot for families with young children. A plethora of amenities ensures their delight: a vibrant children's town, a safely enclosed swimming area marked by beacons, and an array of cafes and stores brimming with refreshing drinks and delectable ice cream.

Adults are not left wanting, as Livadakia Beach boasts a variety of entertainments. Engage in exhilarating water games, explore the sea with rented water sports equipment, challenge friends to a game of beach volleyball, or partake in lively active games on the sand.

The central area of Livadakia is well-appointed with umbrellas and sling chairs for your comfort. If you seek respite from the sun, the cool shade of trees is home to numerous taverns and beach bars. By day, indulge in a light meal as you wait for the heat to subside; by night, savor two or three cocktails and immerse yourself in the pulsating energy of a disco party that dances on until dawn's early light.

In peak season, Livadakia's allure draws a crowd. To secure your spot, it's wise to arrive early or venture beyond the cape, southward, to Koralli Beach. Though less shaded and equipped, Koralli Beach is favored by nudists and the LGBT community for its more secluded atmosphere. Access to Livadakia is a breeze; a leisurely ten-minute stroll from the village center will get you there, or even quicker from the pier. This convenience is a blessing, sparing you the worry of securing a spot in the limited parking area - a small concession for a beach of such allure.

Useful information

Just five kilometers north of Livadia is Chora (Serifos), the capital of the island. You can even walk there, the journey does not take more than an hour. Chora is a completely stunning town, perhaps the only one that has not lost its true Cycladic charm. Located on a high hill, it resembles a giant cake decorated with figures of snow-white marzipan.

The best view open from the outskirts of Chora, and getting on its cobbled narrow streets, you immediately feel the amazing atmosphere of harmony and serenity. Here at every step you can find residential buildings with fragments of ancient fortresses embedded in the walls, fragments of ancient statues in the courtyards of the houses, tiny churches and windmills dating back several centuries. There are several museums in Chora where you can get acquainted with the history and cultural traditions of these places. But it would be more appropriate to sit down at the table of one of the cafes in the central square, slowly drink a cup o coffee or a glass of wine and, closing your eyes for a second, feel like a completely happy person.
