Sikamia beach

Sikamia is a secluded, disorganized sand and pebble beach located on the northwest coast, near the historic village of Galani, 10 km from Hora and 15 km from Livadi. This is one of the largest beaches on the island of Serifos. Due to the difficult dirt road, it is difficult to visit. You can get to Sikamia Beach exclusively on an SUV or motorcycle.

Beach description

Sikamia is a natural desert island with no umbrellas or sling chairs. But the small amount of trees on its territory provides thick pleasant shadow to visitors even during summer heat. Before going here, take care of your comfort, and don't forget the necessary equipment. Tourists wishing to make light meal during the day, can do it in a tavern situated close to the beach zone. Traditional Greek dishes are served here. Near the beach there is a parking lot.

Strong winds are frequent on Sikamia beach in August, so high waves rise of the sea, and create obstacles for swimmers. For this reason, it's better to specify the regional weather forecast before going to this beach.

You can combine a trip to Sikamia with visits to neighboring sights: Taxiorhon monastery, Platis yalos bay, Kutalas and Megalo Livadi beaches.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
