Golden Bay beach

The beach is a long wide line of cream-colored sand with reddish tinge on the shores of the eponymous bay surrounded by mountain slopes and picturesque dunes on the land side.

Golden Bay beach is the second most popular place on the island after Mellieha beach. The infrastructure is perfect here, it is possible to rent water skis and bicycles, jet skis, sunbeds, umbrellas. Supermarkets, where you can buy everything you need for a barbecue, are open nearby. Tourists can have a bite in one of the cafes that are located on the beach.

There are a lot of young people among guests, and there are families with children on the beach. Easy entry and sandy bottom make it possible for parents to give their first swimming lessons to their children.

You can reach Golden Bay by taxi or rented car. There are organized parkings near the beach. You can go by bus No. 225 from St. Julian's or Sliema. From Valletta, you can go by bus No. 42 or No. 250 to St. Paul's Bay, then by bus No. 225.

When is it better to go

The swimming season in Malta lasts from late May to October. The air temperature reaches comfortable +25-30°C, and the water temperature does not fall below +23°C. In some regions of the Maltese archipelago, the water warms up to +26-28°C. In summer, dry, sunny and calm weather prevails. Precipitation is rare. The southern coast of Malta is often influenced by the dry desert winds of Africa, raising high waves and bringing the sultry breath of the Sahara to the islands.
