The beach is a long, wide expanse of cream-colored sand with a reddish tinge on the shores of the eponymous bay, flanked by mountain slopes and picturesque dunes on the landward side.
Golden Bay Beach is the second most popular destination on the island after Mellieha Beach. The infrastructure is impeccable; visitors can rent water skis, bicycles, jet skis, sunbeds, and umbrellas. Supermarkets, stocked with everything needed for a barbecue, are conveniently open nearby. Tourists can enjoy a meal in one of the many cafes dotting the beachfront.
The beach is frequented by a lively crowd of young people, as well as families with children. The gentle entry and sandy bottom provide an ideal setting for parents to teach their little ones to swim.
Accessing Golden Bay is easy, whether by taxi or rented car, with organized parking available near the beach. Alternatively, visitors can take bus No. 225 from St. Julian's or Sliema. From Valletta, buses No. 42 or No. 250 will take you to St. Paul's Bay, where you can transfer to bus No. 225.
