Mellieha beach

Mellieha is situated on the rarely built northwest coast of Malta, next to the eponymous city.

Beach description

A large sandy beach is located on the shores of Mellieha Bay. The entry into the water is gentle and flat. The bottom is sandy. The long sandbank is convenient for bathing children. The water is crystal clear, still. It is usually windless. Wind and storm are not typical for the swimming season.

On Mellieha, you can rent sunbeds with umbrellas, there are water equipment rental stations, free shower stalls and changing stalls, toilets, cafes and snack bars. Some points work around the clock, serving beach parties, discos, banquets on the beach.

Mellieha is recognised as the bast beach on Mellieha. It is overcrowded, young families with children, young people, staid pensioners spend their time there. There are many Maltese and tourists from different countries.

When is it better to go

The swimming season in Malta lasts from late May to October. The air temperature reaches comfortable +25-30°C, and the water temperature does not fall below +23°C. In some regions of the Maltese archipelago, the water warms up to +26-28°C. In summer, dry, sunny and calm weather prevails. Precipitation is rare. The southern coast of Malta is often influenced by the dry desert winds of Africa, raising high waves and bringing the sultry breath of the Sahara to the islands.
