St. Peter's Pool beach

St. Peter's Pool beach is situated on the southwestern coast of Malta near Cape Delimar, 3.5 km from the village of Marsaxlokk and 13.5 km from Valletta. The beach is located in in the crevice between cliffs of fancy form and terraces descending to the sea.

Beach description

The sea on St. Peter's Pool is characterised by amazing azure turquoise tint and perfect cleanness. Massive flat blocks of stone, surrounding the sea pool, provide tourists perfect places for sun baths. The descent into the water is steep. On St. Peter's Pool, tourists can spend time with children children over 10 years old and provided that they can swim well.

There is no any infrastructure on the beach. When going on St. Peter's Pool you should take mattress or soft bedspread, beach umbrella, food and drinks.

St. Peter's Pool is a very popular beach where fans of diving snorkeling and camping gather. There are a lot of Maltese among them who come with their families, there are tourists from France, Germany, and the UK.

When is it better to go

The swimming season in Malta lasts from late May to October. The air temperature reaches comfortable +25-30°C, and the water temperature does not fall below +23°C. In some regions of the Maltese archipelago, the water warms up to +26-28°C. In summer, dry, sunny and calm weather prevails. Precipitation is rare. The southern coast of Malta is often influenced by the dry desert winds of Africa, raising high waves and bringing the sultry breath of the Sahara to the islands.

Useful information

Often, there are strong winds on St. Peter's Pool, that come from Africa, and the sea becomes restless and very unsafe. It is better not to go in water during such weather as you can mash into some rocks. During the calm, water becomes almost still and suitable for continuous swimming.

You can reach St. Peter's Pool by bus No. 82 from Valletta, to Deheb 2 stop, and No. 119 to Delimar stop. Then you go to the beach on foot. The way will take 20 minutes. From Marsaxlokk, you can go by bus No. 119 or  try it on foot.
