Patong beach
Patong is a big public beach surrounded by green hills, located in a bay on Western coast of Phuket. The resort, which is located on the beach, is considered the center of entertainment in Phuket. Along the 4 km coastline, there is a lively autobahn that provides easy access to the beach. Fans of active entertainment on water and on land, noisy parties, dancing and adventures rush to Patong. It is better to go to another beach for those who prefer silence, broken only by the surf and the singing of birds, as well as families with children.

Beach description
The beach line of Patong, bounded on the North by rocks, is covered with fine white sand. The territory is divided into two parts, on the first there are installed sun beds and umbrellas, and the second one is free, where people can bring their own mats and equipment. There is little natural shade on Patong. Places under a few trees and palms are taken from the early morning. The cost of renting a set of two sunbeds with an umbrella will cost 200 baht per day. The entrance to the sea is long and gentle, the bottom is sandy and dense. Visitors can walk barefoot on the beach and in the water. The sea is mostly calm, the tides are not pronounced clearly. People can swim whenever they want. Also there are spots for water entertainments. Paid showers, toilets, changing booths are available for visitors. Rescue workers operate here. There are sportsgrounds, small amusement park for children, smoking areas. On the shore are several ATMs and changing points. The beach is clean, but during the high season it can be dirty.
Patong is the most popular and crowded beach of the island, people relax here from morning till evening. Among visitors a lot of youth, families with children come here, retired people. Very often Russians can be seen.
When is it better to go
The best time for a beach holiday in Phuket lasts from November to April or May. The weather during this period is sunny, calm, the sea is calm, there are almost no waves. The height of the beach season falls on December, when a number of major international holidays are added to water activities. Prices for airline tickets, accommodation, services, food and transportation are at their maximum.

On the shore and in the town are a lot of hotels of different price and comfort level. Guests are offered huge fashionable resorts providing high level of living and wide range of service, budget hotels, apartments, hostels and guesthouses with comfortable rooms with a kitchen for full holiday. Going with children, pay attention to a vibrant nightlife on the beach, so it's better to choose hotels in a distant from the shore.
Where to eat
Patong has many restaurants, bars and cafes where people can find Thai and International dishes. Also there are fastfood like KFC, 7-Eleven and McDonalds. There are Michelin-starred establishments. Many of the food-spots work right on the beach. Big number of makashitas are everywhere, offering low price and tasty food. Exotic food lovers should order baked meat, fish and seafood with spicy sauces, Tom Yam soup, fruit souffle. Russian cousine available. Cheap spots work almost round the clock.
In local markets tourists can buy fresh meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, greens, fruit. It is desirable to bargain, because the Thais have an unspoken tradition to double the price.
What to do
Patong has diving, water skiing, kitesurfing and parasailing rental agencies. Many souvenir shops, massage saloons, excursion bureaus work. A boat, kayak, jet ski, quad bike, banana boat can be rented.
Along the beach line are many nightclubs, disco bars, karaoke and dance floors which open till morning. Foam parties are held, shows featuring local actors and carnivals.
