Grande-Anse beach

Grande-Anse Beach stretches for about a kilometer and a half along the west coast of Buster Island. Deep golden sand has either pink or reddish-brown hues, depending on the time of day and the position of the sun. You can admire the magnificent sunsets right on the shore or sit a little further under the crowns of coconut palms.

Beach description

The longest shoreline of Guadeloupe. Water and sand colors constantly change. Waves are also dependant on the weather. One day only an experienced surfer can battle them, the other it's completely calm. But even during calm weather you need to pay attention to your children, as strong underwater currents are present here. Deep waters are pretty close to the shore. The beach is perfect for teenagers and adults.

Grande-Anse Beach is considered so popular due its sheer size, it doesn't feel small even if large crowds of people come here. Anyone will find a spot for themselves. Those who came early can hide from the heat in the tree shadows. Palms allow to spend your whole day on the beach. Many people explore the jungles at the back end of the beach or rent boats or ride kayaks while admiring the lagoon and mangrove forests from the sea.

The beach is so popular because:

  1. The entry is free.
  2. Many parking spaces are available nearby.
  3. Restaurants, bars and cafes are situated near the parking lot. Tourists especially like the local coconut sherbet that you can enjoy in the palm shadows.
  4. The beach is always clean and half-empty, toilets and showers are available.
  5. Visitors can rent: boats, water bikes.
  6. There's something to do for anyone, be they a lonely traveler or a family: you can swim or watch others do it, lay in your sunbed with a cocktail in your hand and listen to jazz or explore the jungle.

When is the best time to go?

It is best to go to Guadeloupe from December to May, as the weather at this time is set dry and fresher than in other months. However, it should be borne in mind that in December, during the holidays, many tourists arrive to celebrate Christmas and New Year, which affects prices.
