Beach description
High winds and waves that are frequent in this region make swimming a dangerous activity. Currents can take you far from the beach - not even the most experienced of swimmers may be able to tackle the weather. This is explained by the beach's location, which is situated on a plat that is pushed far forward. Swimming on this beach is prohibited.
You can, however, swim and dive at the nearby Les Salines beach. It's located just a few minutes away from Anse des Châteaux and is a sandy patch of land with sea on one side and lake on the other. This beach is protected from waves and currents by a coral reef that allows for safe and comfortable swimming. There are no natural shadows or umbrellas here, so you'll need to take care of heat protection beforehand.
When is the best time to go?
It is best to go to Guadeloupe from December to May, as the weather at this time is set dry and fresher than in other months. However, it should be borne in mind that in December, during the holidays, many tourists arrive to celebrate Christmas and New Year, which affects prices.
