Beach description
The wide 800 m long coastline is covered in clean white sand. A breathtaking view of the Table Mountain and Cape Town opens from the coast.
Bloubergstrand is located in an open area, and winds blow from every direction. It's especially suitable for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Taking off on a paraglider is also comfortable from the beach. There are no sharks in the coastal waters as it's too shallow for them. Fur seals come on to the coast to sunbathe when there are no visitors.
Many cafes, bars and snack bars are located nearby. Small shops with water equipment operate here. You can set up a picnic on Bloubergstrand if it's not windy, but it's never easy to predict the weather. Bringing children isn't recommended.
You can get to Bloubergstrand by bus or rented car. Parking lots are available near the beach.
When is it better to go
The best time for a beach holiday and swimming on the coast of South Africa falls in the low season – from November to March. The water temperature in the Indian Ocean rises to + 23-25 °C, in the Atlantic – to + 18-20 °C. The air temperature reaches + 30 °C, but the fresh ocean breeze makes you feel comfortable.
