Beach description
The beach, protected from the winds by green hills built up with snow-white villas and the overgrown with coniferous forest mountain of Gammarth, is covered with fine golden sand, pleasant for barefoot. The descent is smooth. The bottom is sandy. Small waves rise during the high tide.
The attendance of the beach is average. Usually, it's the holiday destination of the capital city residents and wealthy tourists from Germany, Great Britain and France. La Marsa is not very popular because of its high prices. Russians don't come here because this direction is not developed by their travel agencies.
In parallel to the beach, there is a picturesque promenade with a luxury tropical park behind it. Nearby, there's a large shopping mall with Monoprix supermarket and a chain of boutiques.
In La Marse and on the beach there are many coffee shops, fish restaurants, diners and bars. There are water sports stations where you can rent a boat, a powerboat, water equipment for diving, snorkeling and parasailing.
There are several prestigious beach hotels and apartments on the shore, the cost of living in which is considered unreasonably high. Luxury cottages and villas in the vicinity of the beach and the village belong to wealthy Tunisians.
You can easily get to La Marsa beach from the capital by taxi or TGM metro.
When is it better to go
Tunisia is located in two climatic zones — tropical and subtropical. The swimming season opens in May and lasts until October. During this period, the least amount of precipitation falls, calm weather prevails, the sea is calm, and a storm rarely occurs. In July and August it becomes especially hot. Air temperature exceeds +40°C. In August, it sometimes storms.
