Tabarka beach

The wide beaches are covered with very fine white sand. The descent is smooth. The bottom is sandy and rocky. The sea is a couple of degrees colder than in Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir. Waves are of medium hight. It is often windy, which is especially appreciated by windsurfers.

The beaches of Tabarka are equipped with deck chairs and umbrellas. Narrow and sharp as needles rocks with a height of more than 20 m are a worthy decoration of the coastline and coastal waters. Rock formations of iron-containing ore are one of the most significant natural landmarks of the Miocene era.

The waters of Tabarka have the largest coral reef in the Mediterranean Sea, which all divers of the world dream of seeing. The La Galite archipelago consisting of six islands formed as a result of volcanic activity lies close to the shore.

The waters in the area of archipelago and coral reef have the status of a protected zone. Through the thickness of clear water you can see picturesque grottoes, the bottom and a variety of representatives of the Mediterranean fauna – octopus, squid, giant tuna, eel, shrimp.

Tabarka has several diving centers where you can rent equipment, organize diving, get a guide. Those who are interested are given the opportunity to attend training courses for beginners.

When is it better to go

Tunisia is located in two climatic zones — tropical and subtropical. The swimming season opens in May and lasts until October. During this period, the least amount of precipitation falls, calm weather prevails, the sea is calm, and a storm rarely occurs. In July and August it becomes especially hot. Air temperature exceeds +40°C. In August, it sometimes storms.
